In the topic "How Many PreCats" various comments have been made about my back end (or the car's) appearing low in the Jan Sprint (Morgan's Mutterings page).

Has anyone ever measured the back end of a Griff - assuming standard wheels/tyres, correct tyre pressure and standard shocks etc?

How about measuring it to the boot lid edge to set a standard? I'm away from my car and my lap top for the next few days but will add my dimensions as soon as I can.

If you respond please add year/engine size as well as height to that lip then we can see whether there are differences between Pre Cats/5.0's etc (and whether mine is low - can't measure it at present - not with the car!)

Well there u go then - just watched the Villa beat Portsmouth 2-1 so I'm a happy chappy - what's more my Griff is 68.5 cm to the lip - so no different to anyone else's.

Oh and to Simpo Two - there is black sealant round the light covers - just not very thick

As for Morgan's Mutterings - I was wondering what to write about next - now I know!!!

I thought that the lower back end was a feature of the MK 1's,in fact if one doesn't look like that i've always thought the shocks were nackered.

A point about the headlight covers, when one had to be replaced ,the factory had originally sealed it with a double sided sticky gasket that was the same shape as the cover,no longer available aparently so silicone or PU is used instead.Much nicer finish with the gasket as only a little sealant had to be used.

Please supply which of the 10 or so tyre combinations that have been used and the 6 or so suspension set ups that have been fitted and whether the car has rear anti-roll bars and how many packing pieces the body is resting on and how high the boot lock mechansism is and how much fuel is in the tank and how much is stored in the boot to enable a definition of standard to be derived...

Eeek!

My original comment (sorry DaveM) was just an observation based on noticing that in the Morgan's Mutterings pic, the rear wheel seems to be further into the arch than on my '92 4.3.

I didn't know whether mine had been jacked up 70's Escort style, or Dave had a body in the boot.

Perhaps measuring vertically from centre of hub to wheelarch would remove some of the variables (and introduce a whole load more!).

At the moment mine measures about 1m70 by the way cos it's up on stands...

Okay then that's another red herring out of the way - I think that it looks a treat in red with those OZs but a coat or two of Black on the wheel arches wouldn't go amiss.
