E46 Sat Nav query

Hi, First e46 query.

We have an 2002 e46 330 which has the wide screen sat nav. It is constantly rebooting (BMW screen comes up, sometimes it works for 10 minutes and then reboots, others times it just constantly reboots).

Any thoughts on what the issue could be would be welcome as it is driving us loopy.

Thank you for the fast responses, I will unplug and leave for 30 minutes. I did not want to try and update the firm ware as I was wary it would hang and be completely useless, as it never seemed to stay up for long enough to upgrade.
If the unplug bit works, then I will upgrade the firm ware. If that works I will plan a route.........

Edited to say it is a DVD based system "SW4-1/xx" forgotten what the XX bit is.

Try a different Map DVD if you can - they seem very sensitive to these (particularly if they're copies).

What he said. I was running a copy 2008 disc. It was always crashing and rebooting, strangely mostly in hot weather. Put an original 2006 disc back in and not probs at all.
