Hello, I am going to build a Porsche Speedster replica, I already have the chassis (shortened VW bug) and the engine (VW type 4), but I'm unsure which colour I should have in order to best sell it. Should it be metallic (e.g. silver), or a non-metallic (e.g. mint green or daffodil yellow). If I was to go non-metallic it would be cheaper to do it the gel coat (but perhaps less desirable?). Which colour is the most desirable, bearing in mind that I am building it purely to sell?

Metallic silver seems very popular if a little uninspiring.

I've seen a beautiful example made by Chesil - it was a really nice off-white/ivory sort of colour.

Dark Silver (try and get an authentic '50s Porsche paint code, failing that some go for a slightly 'warm' silver for authentic patina) or black (cheaper).

Hi Jamie, you could try the event at Reading this Sunday
http://www.911porscheworld.com/mepasite/291/Porsch...

Last couple of years there's been a good few Speedster replicas there plus original 356's

Had one of your dad Barries Spyder replicas until last year, which I originally got from him in 1990. Ask him about Guy's Spyder smile

Yes my Dad is Barrie from Martin and Walker, who do speedster kits, so the car will be 'factory built' smile I am thinking that black with red leather would be nice, but I'm unsure whether to go through the cost and hassle of painting it, or just start with a gel coat.

Guy, the Spyder must have been good if you had it for 18 years! What engine did you have in it?
