We're going to St Andrews to see some friends for 3 nights at the end of October, and are trying to find somewhere to stay!
Cheaper the better really, I think they live near Queens Terrace if that makes any sense so somewhere near there would be ideal
If anyone has any suggestions that would be great!

edit: Cheers guys, we got somewhere sorted in the end - another question, can anyone recommend any decent local taxi firms?
We're getting the train on the thursday, but our sunday flight seems too early to be doable by public transport so taxi seems the only way. Any cheap taxi companies?

Car hire would be ideal, as 4 days hire is the same price as one taxi by the looks of it, but we can't find anyone to hire a (just) under 21

Queens Gardens do you? Just round the corner.

If you want a proper hotel then the Russell is about as cheap as they go and not too bad.

No much use for October, but the uni does decent priced accommodation over the summer.

Was out there this morning, and had a look out after reading this post, but to be honest i cant think of anywhere apart from the expensive ones.....you'd prob be best camping or going for a b&b if it needs to be cheap.

Queens Gardens is really central so any hotel or B&B in town will work out fine for you.

My recommendation would be to get a B&B somewhere on Murray Park/North Street. The standard is good because competition is fierce in this area and it's a popular spot with golfers as it is about 2 minutes away from the Old course. It's very central for all the bars and restaurants.

Have a good trip!

Cheers for the advice, we ended up using tesco clubcard vouchers and are staying at the scores hotel!

The next conundrum is getting back to the airport by 11 on sunday, public transport seems out of the question so a taxi seems the only option, any recommendations of a cheap taxis to edinburgh airport?

Cheers guys

Scores Hotel is nice and in a great spot, not that I've stayed there but I've been in for a meal.
Good pub underneath too!

Not sure about cheap taxis though.

What about - taxi to Leuchars station, train to Edinburgh then bus/taxi to the airport?

that's what were doing on the way, but on the way back (Sunday) the train seems to be 2.5 hours and has 2 changes!

I'll ring a couple of taxi places later, seems to be around £60/70
