I would go with the E46 M3. It's modern, reliable, and with that budget you'll have a lot of tidy cars to choose from.
For an everyday car I think the Z3MC is getting a bit long in the tooth now, and could possibly be a bit wearing if you're not in the mood. But that's just my opinion.
If you want to be a bit different, what about the Alpina Z4 roadster(I don't think that's its proper name, but you know the one I mean).

15k bought me a superb e46 M3 in July.
53 reg (facelift), 56,000 miles.
Silver grey
Imola red leather
Sat nav/TV
SMG
BMW warranty until March 2010
19" wheels
Electric folding mirrors
ACS Exhaust
Lovely, lovely car and enjoying every minute of owning it.
If you lower your budget, then e39 M5 is the car to get, if you raise it, the Z4M.

Just got rid of my E46 M3. Had it 2 years andit never missed a beat. With that amount of cash available you'll get a top one. They don't seem to be selling too quickly as you might expect so have a look around and make a few low offers, you'd be suprised what people will take for such an awsome car! Had a look at the Alpina's as I've just got a Z4M roadster. Not many knocking about and some have been re-advertised loads so they will be open to offers. Good car, very rare amd not far off Z4 M performance!
Good luck
Good luck
