Hi all,

have searched here and elsewhere on the net for an answer and was hoping for some advice from you knowledgeable lot.

The Climate Control unit was working fine the previous evening, then when I started the engine the following morning in "Auto" temparature regulation mode, the ventilation fan was not blowing on any speed.
I could hear the aircon unit engage and disengage when activated but to no effect. At the end of a 30 min drive no change.
Next time I started the engine, the unit would not even switch on, screen remains black although the buttons are illuminated with the headlights are on (screen stays dark).

Does this sound like the final stage resistor problem or should I prepare for a bigger bill?

Thanks in advance for any input.

Weird, sounds like a problem with the display unit. Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few mins?

I don't think it's just the display unit as the fan was not blowing when the unit was switched on. Also, surely it would work with the screen off if it was just the display or is there a specific dependency on this unit?

Sounds like the resistor problem, you can buy a replacement unit on ebay and send the broken one back. Not that expensive.

It is possible to turn off the climate control by continually pressing the fan "slower" button until the whole things goes dark. But a single push of the "auto" button should bring it back to life. If that doesn't wrk check the fuses.

...and one visit to the main dealer later yep it was the fuses : I performed a perfunctory check on the fusebox but it seems I must have missed the blown one!
