The only one I can really think of is correcting other people's spelling, grammar and punctuation errors when I quote them on here. It's not done as a grammar Nazi humiliation sort of thing, and I don't flag it up at all, but I simply cannot bring myself to hit the submit button when I know there is an error on the page, even though I didn't put it there.

Other than that, I'm just about the world's least OCD person, unless generally making a mess everywhere I go counts! hehe

Anyone else have really specific little bugbears like that?

Me, I like nothing more than a gentle stroll in the countryside, followed by a quick tug in a vat of manure.

What?! Its a Peculiar habit!

wink

Not really, I just wanted to look cool by referencing another lounge topic...

Most blokes have some kind of car related OCD.

These often manifest themselves in the cars heater controls having to be pointing in the same direction, being on the same temperatures for each zone, not being on a .5º increment, the outlet vents pointing straight etc etc.

I did a thread on another forum about this and almost everybody had some kind of car related OCD.
yes

Took a girl out for lunch today, she noticed everytime i lifted my glass i wipe the ring off the table. I cant deal with splashes, cup/glass rings and stuff like that.

I have quite a few, heater controls must all point the same way as suggested. The vents must point to the correct window (passenger ones pointing left etc...) the volume must always be on an even number!
I have to press backup on the sky remote before it self cancels the information bar! To name a few

Jeez im weird

The spray head on the Aftershave bottle has to point the same way as the label. That way in the mornings I can grab the bottle with the label/name facing me and not have to keep turning it round to get it to spray on me... boxedin

When I park the car on the driveway, the wheels must be parallel with the direction the car is facing.

The seats (in a 2 door car) must not be folded forwards when car is left parked.

My OCD would be that my home has to be perfect, as in perfectly tidy, everything in the right place etc. hard going for my wife and my step son but they seem to tolerate my obsession with tidyness. Same goes for the garden. A very good friend of mine came over recently for a bbq, had not seen my garden for 5 years and his first remark was: "that is a very manicured garden you have there".

Car wise I am the same, the heater vents must be perfectly matched up (which goes against the original concept design but hey). Perfectly clean and dust free environment etc.

The constant cleaning required to manage this OCD will be the death of me I am sure and I know deep down is completely pointless but if I see something untidy in my little castle it really messes with my Karma. biggrin

I noticed that too, but it's never affected me. My air vents point all over the place, climate control settings are whatever I want them to be, the two front seats aren't perfectly aligned and I can open one front window without having to open the other exactly the same amount.

TBH I just concluded that most people on here are freaks.

When post-processing photos or doing any kind of graphic design work, I always find myself spending way too much time toggling back and forth between two adjustments that look will look identical to anyone who's not me. Some people would call it attention to detail, some would call it OCD. I dunno. I just want my pics to look pretty. :-)

Toilets and doorhandles and keyboards and public places

I will not touch any door handle in a public place. I will push the door open with my foot or cover my hand with an item of clothing if the handle must be used to open said door.

I hate using public loos. I do not touch any of the door handles or locks with my bare hands. I will cover the toilet seat in paper if a poo is unavoidable. I will not touch any tap or dryer button apart from my own with bare skin.

When starting a new office job or using a public computer I will always clean the keyboard with a disinfectant wipe.

Yet I would happliy get covered in crap riding down a hill at mach 10 on my mountain bike.

OCD?

If I've got more than one note in my pocket or wallet, then they must all be facing the same way and sorted in denomination order with the lowest on top with the queens picture on the visible face.

I don't know if this would be classified as OCD or paranoia but whenever I'm sat down inside, whether I'm in a pub, restaurant, office, at a friend's house or even at home I absolutely MUST NOT have my back to a door, even if it's locked.

I'm also quite particular about how a pint of Guinness is poured as well.

Mine's dishwasher related. I have to have all the cutlery in the dishwasher pointing up, i.e handle down. I also can't have 2 items the same touching each other e.g forks or whatever (Freud would probably make something of that!). Everything else has to go in its particular place. If my missus stacks the dishwasher I have to unstack it & re-do it. I have also got up out of bed in the middle of the night to check the dishwasher when I've been a bit concerned about the cutlery being the right way. Needless to say, I'm the only one that touches it now!

silly

My missus has to have the toilet paper facing out on the roll holder. Not just at home, but everywhere. First thing she does when we go on holiday is check the loo rolllaugh

I have this a bit, but I put it down to having worked in a couple of secure mental health units full of unpredictable people who would unexpectedly burst through said doors from time to time.

What's your excuse?

Likewise. I think it's just a basic human survival instinct; you want to be able to see any potential danger that's coming your way. Ever tried working at a computer with your back to the door? Horrible!

Thinking about it I have quite a few OCD tendencies. Climate control on an exact number (preferably even) and must be the same in all zones. Computer desktop icons must be arranged in equal columns. Items on desk must be placed parallel to the vertical or horizontal. I'm a freak.frown

Similar to yours, only I'm worried they might try to take me back nuts

I began eating 'left handed' over ten years ago (it's long since stuck and is now natural) when it comes to directly touching foodstuffs (crisps etc.) as being right-handed my left has come into less contact with handles etc. I usually open handles with my right hand but use my knuckles or fourth/little finger. Nowhere near as bad as you've described with toilets but then again I don't think I 'cross contaminate' with regards to usage of hands/fingers for different tasks so it's not really an issue.

If you start doing these things it just sets in and takes over as the 'usual' way of operating. No-one else notices, at all, ever.
