Look for the signs as you turn off the dual carriageway , they are small but you need to turn off away from the main car park if its like last year jgoodwood ? glad to hear my 1968 Car will not be excluded !

I spoke with them this week re the pass and by all accounts provided your car is pre 73 ie historic tax exempt then you will be OK. You will need the pass though.

Can you access the '66 parking coming from all directions or is it preferable to approach it from a specific direction??

Coming from Alton via Petersfield and so have the option of:

A: Going A3/A27 and along the coast but presume it gets very busy around the Chichester roundabouts?

B: Going cross country Petersfield/South Harting and down that way

C: A272 to Midhurst and down through Singleton?

Any suggestions - the car is not the most traffic friendly in the world so would prefer to keep rolling for as long as possible!

I love the idea of the pre 66 car park but if you are going to do it please Goodwood don't put a new car showroom in he middle of it like you did last year. kind of ruins the theme.

My parent's said they queued for an hour to get into Goodwood yesterday. I'm driving in from Petersfield in a '59 Turner. I don't think it'll queue for an hour (well not with a BMC formula junior engine). So I've decided to go via Midhurst in Singleton and via East Dean to the Pre 66 car park. It should miss out the lengthy queues from Singleton up to the racecourse (which we just turn off from anyway).

The route in from East Dean was a success and we managed to avoid some of the queues from Petworth and Singleton. We joined the rest of the traffic at the crossroads at the north end of the estate. We still had to queue for a couple of miles and the plugs got a bit coked up. Is there anyway a Pre 66 only route in could be arranged? There are enough roads in.

When you look at all the roads that can't be used for other reasons, I suspect there aren't.

I was amusing as we drove in the Herald on Friday morning, the only car stopped on the side of the road was a TVR smile Ok, may not have been broken but it did make me wonder.

If you hang around a bit in the evenings you can drive straight out....

TVR,s are obviously unreliable. I went in mine, did 550 mile round trip and as usual never considered it breaking down but it could. Its a machine and mine,s a 47 year old one. Must admit that the clutch was getting a bit hot in the 1 hour plus queue on saturday morning but I saw a lot of " more worthy" steed at the roadside with bonnets up. I dont really think my car is any more or less reliable than any other old car, its down to maintainance. I usually go to Angouleme at this time of year and usually in my unreliable TVR(for the last 17 years) but they clashed again.
In defence of unreliable TVR,s I did the 220 mile return journey to Cheshire in 3 and a half hours including the sunday M3 traffic. On top of which an identical model( which incidentally I used to own ) won the Fordwater Trophy on saturday, wouldn,t swap it for a Triumph Herald but i,m odd sTeVeR
