Would we get our holding deposit back?

The OH and I are moving on Friday and I have just got off the phone with our lettings agent who has informed me that certain things we requested be sorted won't be by the time we move in.

I have been offered another flat in the same building we are moving to, but having left a £350 weeks deposit I am reluctant to pull out from our current place. We didn't sign anything when we handed over the holding deposit, but I would assume that us agreeing to rent was subject to all our caveats being addressed? And yes, before everyone moans, I should have got a signed agreement but I didn't so that is that. I do have a receipt for the money left.

It isn't a major thing that needs to be sorted, it just makes me question what sort of a landlord with a months' notice can't be bothered to dismantle a few items of furniture?

So if I said to the lettings agent that we aren't happy and want to pull out, how likely would I be to get my money back?

Why don't you phone and ask. Do it on the fact that it wont be "as sold" and you're not happy with it.

You're ringing before 9am, there is no point. Try 11 after they've settled down and had their morning coffee and chat.
