As the TVR is off the road and looks like she wont be back for the weekend, a little two wheel hoon is in order. Was thinking of going down to the London Skyride as I went last year and it was rather good fun. Anyone else going?

Tell me more. The website made it seem like you have to register etc. Can you not just rock up and ride?

From what I can see, and based on last year, I suspect they want people to register so they have an idea of numbers but I simply turned up last year without any problems.

whats this like? My housemate (novice biker) is on about going instead of heading over to Cwmcarn for the day. He is lame.

Is it fun? I'm gonna take my mtb and just f**k about if i have to go

Yeah, it's kind of fun. Very sociable and its just cool to cycle that route traffic free. It is not the most challanging ride ever, but its a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Forget any ideas of burning through London like a lunatic - the route gets really congested.

It's quite good fun though, but beware there are large contingents of the beardy, lentil-eating, 'critical mass' type cyclists who treat the day as an opportunity to promote their 'cause' (assuming they've been un-glued from the RBS offices by now).

I tend to ride in early, do a lap of the course and head home again before it gets too busy - a nice 60-ish mile ride

I basically hate you - a 60 mile ride for me would not be nice at all as I am sadly allergic to having heart attacks! I'll be lucky to make half that.

^ what he said. I got there early last year and did a couple of circuits after which there were too many idiots riding at speed through family groups with little kids on bikes with stabilisers, so not too clever. Will probably be there this Sunday and do the same.

Not sure yet which route I will go buit I suspect I'll start somewhere round the Tower as my bike is there at the moment. Anyone up for a little PH bike hoon or coffee break to chat about cars, bikes and moan about the green brigade?
