This weekend I am about to fulfil a life dream and drive to the ring with some mates for Saturday/Sunday/Monday fun.

I only intend to drive the ring on the Sunday and rather than take the absolutely huge risk with my own car I've heard of Suzuki Swift rental.

Having done a google search I have found www.rent-racecar.de which will rent a car, include insurance and liability with track access for 130 euros for half a day which sounds perfect. I had been considering the Alianz £99 but found it does not include 3rd party liabilty, also its a 35 euro inspection fee so the price of hiring the swift appears to make perfect sense.

Can anyone provide recommendations/comments on who I am looking to use or recommend other outfits to consider? I will be taking my father-in-law too so would prefer something where I can take a passenger out.

Thanks

Michael

You dont get many laps for the $ with the swifts but hey are not a bad deal at all.

Perhaps best val for money is the old Alfas via RSR, no miles limits, they do newer stuff clios etc up to gt3Rs but as you step up not so small budget friendly.

Do not spank any rentals tho, the excess will make you cry!

Im there thurs-sun red golf, lizard logistics plastered on it.

cheers Iguana will look out, I am there in the Red vauxhall vxr8 which might make an appearance on track but doubt it.

The 130k included in the price equates to 6 laps which is 2 more than I would have considered in the r8. The point of the trip is not just the track, its hte experience and also the surrounding countryside too smile

rent-racecar.de are very good though better known for their BMW and VAG rentals. I think the Swifts are a recent addition, I've not seen them.

rent4ring.de are best known for Swift rentals - well prepared and an excellent price.

RSRNurburg.com are the Alfa people and also have other cars available.

I've used all of the above and would happily use any of them again. They all have passenger seats but you should take helmets - most will be fully caged.

cool, a silly question - fuel. Whats the deal? Do you end up having to pay some crazy price for what you use?

There are two main petrol stations nearby, one on the main road that runs parallel to the track at Döttinger Höhe, and the other a few kilometers away in Adenau.

And if you haven't booked your hire cars, do it now, they may already be booked out.

Pardon me while I just laugh my socks off

The ring is in The Eifel, The Eifel is a very rural part of the Fatherland, so rural in fact that it is quite often 'the norm' to completely ignore emails.

Phone them, phone them now, it's a long way to come to be without a car for the track wink

Okay, I've called them on the mobile but they are all at an event this afternoon at the ring so nobody's in the office.
They asked me to send an email, (which I now have) and provisionally book the car for you.
I'll call them back in the morning and post on here whether it's confirmed or not, but they think it isn't booked for anyone else so fingers crossed you should be okay smile

Up at the ring? Yes, other than that it's a bit 'rural' unless you want to travel a little bit. Bonn, Köln, Trier (Roman capital of Europe), Koblenz, Cochem, etc are all worth a trip for half a day.

It's a bit 'out of season' now, but it's the Renault Days weekend at the ring this weekend so you won't be short of stuff to do at the Grand Prix track, and it's all free thumbup
