That link requires a login.

Most obvious tell-tale of an Evo 1 is black strips on the roof channel +small seats with no harness holes. Evo 2's were body coloured + high backed seats with harness holes.

ETA Whoops. Edited to fix Evo dyslexia!

Other way round. Evo 2s have the high backed seats.

Also Evo 2s have alu fuel filler caps instead of black plastic. Plus 15" wheels are a big giveaway on Evo 1s, unless they've been upgraded.

Some are alcantara, some are leather, depends on the edition. The giveaway for Evo 2s is whether they have high back seats with wrap around side bolsters, and a hole in the headrest for harnesses (although that said, the Verde York and perhaps other Evo 1s have the Evo 2 seats, so that just confuses matters even more).

Yes, the engine is different. One difference is easy to spot with the bonnet open: Evo 1 has a normal distributor at the end of the exhaust cam, whereas the EVO 2 has a twin coilpack (i.e. 2 square boxes) where the distributor would normally be.

Also, the shell is slightly different: the passenger footwell of an EVO 2 has a hump by the transmission tunnel where the catalytic converter goes. You can see this easily.

If as you say, it costs a grand, then it will only be good for breaking.

Same here, I don't like registering for sites.

What I mean is, if it's starting a grand, and if the final price ends up close to that, then the car really won't be up to much (a really good Evo 1 can cost over 10k). If you need to keep a spare car aside to break for parts whenever your showroom condition Dealer's Collection needs some fettling, then it might fit the bill.

Same here too smile

£1K for a shabby Evo is still very good money, and worth at least a few grand in parts.
