I'm going to watch drag racing for the first time this weekend, not sure if it'll be Saturday or Sunday. Does anyone know if one day is better than the other? I.e more cars, different classes etc. Also, when I've seen drag racing on TV I can never get my head round elapsed times and reaction times. Will an uninitiated spectator be able understand who's won?

If Wikipedia is to be believed, the winner is the driver with the fastest combined elapsed time + reaction time. Is the first person over the line always the winner? What time is shown on the screens at the track?

Anything I need to know to make the most out of the day?

It is indeed my first drag event. Unless you count the funny car they tried to run indoors at Autosport International!

Combining with in a weekend trip to watch the hillclimbing at Shelsey Walsh on the other day. I've not seen either form of motorsport before.

Looks like Hot Rod heaven....lol

http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk/eventdet...

in many races ("heads up") then its just a straight forward race, many classes are handicapped with racers posting thier estimated elapsed time, if they go quicker than that and win they have "broke out" - and the other (slower) guy wins.....

yeah, just go and watch.........
