My guess is that there is no evidence of a conspiracy suitable for a court of law. If there was then there would have been no deal between Renault and the FIA. On the assumption that they were not party to the conspiracy, Renault offering no contest it proves nothing, absolutely zilch, one way or the other.

However, Piquet might well be in the frame. There was a suggestion that Renault would prosecute Piquet for blackmail. Even if Flav's guilt was proven it would not be a defence against blackmail. So if there is any evidence to support the allegation then that could still go ahead. If Flav agreed to go quietly then I bet there were conditions attached by him, one of which might well have been financial support for a charge or civil case.

I'd guess that the key to all this is Pat.

I think its a bit of a joke, but cheating has been in sport for as long as people have been competing. And I'm pretty certain this isn't the first time someone has binned it on purpose.
