Well it's been 12 full days of ownership of my Monaro VXR500. In that time I have:

- been to the petrol station 4 times for a full tank of V-Power
- cleaned the car 4 times, MAN is black hard to keep nice yikes (and the pictures were taken after I'd just got home with the car on the first day after a 200 mile journey..CLEAN shots to follow soon! biggrin )
- worried about whether or not "it's meant to make that noise" about 20 times
- terrified 31* old people and children with the Wortec exhaust (* might be more. They are the confirmed victims of said terror)
- grinned like an idiot... <counts how many times he's started the car with the windows down, then adds it to the number of WOT blats, tunnel runs, and the number of times he's looked back at the car after parking it> ... 5,000,000,000,000 times
- had at least 15 incidents of teenagers and kids giving the car the thumbs up, plus SO many 'nice car' remarks it's impossible to keep count
- and whilst on the hunt for a car for the good lady wife, have had 4 out of 5 garages we've visited had their sales rep coming over to us to ask a) what car I'm in; b) am I trading it (no f*** right off!) and c) can they have a spin in it (seriously)
- oh, and also found out via Mel that my favourite NHL team, ie my forum user name, means something 'slightly different' in the Urban Dictionary. Thanks a bloody bunch, and why the F**K did I not know this?! biggrin How do I change it.. and... how do I think of a new name, given that the name I chose was about my 10th choice! biggrin

All in all I'm one very happy bunny with the car, it's amazing and I just cannot get enough of that noise. Luckily it's still quite warm weather, in the winter I'm going to freeze my nuts off because I'll still insist on having the windows down to listen to it. Incidentally, does everybody else's Wortec exhaust pop LOADS every time they ease off on the power, or is that just mine?! confused

I know you all know what a Monaro looks like, but I don't want the "this thread is useless without pictures" response so here you go (never done this before so apologies if I cock it up) tongue out

You'll get the grin factor when people pop out the old camera and start taking pix of it... On one occasion at a service station (stopped for a pee and a fag) and when i came back out a dad was taking pictures of his kids standing in front of it... biggrin Have you been asked this yet??? "is that what was on top gear mate?" laugh

Beautiful ride mate, enjoy

Black VXR....my fave. Very nice car and I'm glad you're enjoying the experience of owning one. A year and a half in and I still love mine every single time I get in it.

Thanks for all the comments guys!

Sorry I can't make the meet on Sunday, I'm at my Granny's 90th bday 'party' and I have to make a speech rolleyes hoping to be involved in...whatever gets organised for Christmas though cool Can't wait to meet the rest of the crew, always been heavily involved in other car clubs and this one will be no different smile

Glad to hear all those things are normal. Everytime the engine makes a 'slightly' different noise I keep getting paranoia.. anyone who's owned 3 Italian sports cars like I have will understand that though biggrin

Car has almost 17,000 on the clock. Had exactly 16k when I picked it up last weekend though biggrin To be fair it was 200+ miles home and I then took my god daughter to Camelot theme park the following day, so it's not as bad as it seems. Then again, what's the point having it and not driving it tongue out Gonna have to calm down soon though, already spent £240 on petrol, which has to rate quite impressively on the old scale. I'm finding myself making pointless and un necessary trips just to have another play, especially if it involves driving through the tunnel on the A50 spin

Right time to finish off the Peroni....

that does look lovely, you captured the front end at a nice view point. I always found from some angles I was never sure about the total looks of the car but from others it just shines. Those alloys really suit it

Yep that's the one smile

Though the best I've been through are the ones near Conwy, north wales. Still to take the Monaro down there, but they were brilliant in my old car!
