I have gone and done something silly, bought another capri !

Its a standard mk3 1.6l, probably the only saving grace of this model was being a non sunroof car, complete with grandad spec suspension and interior and a wheezy 1.6 pinto, yay ! mine for £900

even better is the strange colour 'highland green' which has grown on me since i bought it.

I added some suitable period wheels which actually made it handle slightly more respectably then the steel bicycle wheels that were on originally

plans are for a decent spec 2 litre engine and suspension etc to match, if time and money permit

You should stick a YB in there.... biggrin

Head on over to www.passionford.com and have a scrounge round there. There's always plenty of spare engines going for sale on there which shouldn't be too expensive.

Nice car.

Nice Car.

I had four new Capris between '76 and '79...

Mk 2 Orange 1.6
Mk 2 White 1,6
Mk 3 White 3.0S
Mk 3 Red 1.6

All lovely cars, I am a big fan of the Pinto engine, totally bulletproof, just make sure the oil/filter are changed every 6,000 miles, because the spraybar can get blocked causing camshaft wear, but they are not expensive to replace anyway.

Have fun.........smile

Even the V6's aren't "quick" though, could a Cosworth 24v V6 be transplanted easily enough?

theres a quantum leap in performance in Capri terms from the 1.6 to the V6 Essex ,138bhp and they are more torquey than the 2.8i at 150bhp.

However the 3 litres are a heavy lump , on the plus side there is that lovely burble ,

I personaly would go the V8 route , second hand Rover V8 ( from a TVR Chimera / Grithith ) ??

Serpentine 500 would be good ...

my 3 litre MK 1 will be up for sale soon

Very popular conversion, with either the BOA or the BOB engines, i think thats the codes for them. hehe. Fella at work has a lovely dark blue one that was advertised here last year, with the BOB engine fitted.
