...That is the question.

I'm about to replace all the seals on the Chimaera and am not sure whether to pinch them in along the bottom of the door?
A majority of people say you must, but a well respected (nay award winning) southern independant says it's urban myth and he does not believe it adds any benefit whatsoever.

Over to you!

I had one of the passenger side seals pinched more than it already was. This cured my problem of water entering into the well behind the passenger seat.

I think some water trickles down the door seal and needs to work out instead of in, which is what the pinch points allow.

I have no idea what you're talking about. But if the sage says not to bother - I wouldn't bother.

I've just replaced my seals yesterday but I have got to wait for the car to dry out to see if they work or I need to pinch them.
Has anybody found this to be a cure?

The pinching was introduced as an improvement - my 97 Griff has it. See how you get on.

There is a rubber seal around the door, which when the door is closed makes a seal.
With me so far? ...good.
Now some owners experience water ingression around this seal.
TVR made a decision around 1996 ish to pinch this rubber seal is a couple of places to pinch the seal, and thus re-direct the water away from the inside of the car.

Hope that makes sense? Cos I’ve had a few! . OH .

Mine are pinched on 2000 model. However I have noticed a severe cold draft and some water getting sucked through when it rains when I have the window down and I am traveling at speed. It must be a vacumm or something. When window up draft goes. For the record with the pinches mine doesn't leak.

Hi,

If you pinch the seals, this can stop water leaks as the water will drain off(where pinched), this is because most of the time the water sits in the sill and overflows into the cabin as theres no where else for it to go!

Hope this helps
