I am looking to do some sprinting and hillclimbing next year. The two venues most likely to be graced with my presence are Loton Park and Curborough. Loton Park is leased/run by the Hagley and District Motor Club. Curborough is owned/run by the Shenstone and District Motor Club.

Will membership of one club allow you to compete at the other clubs venue? Will you be inelegible for championship points if this is the case? Will I be able to enter the local championships with membership to the Hillclimb and Sprint Association? What is the best thing to do?

I have looked on the website (briefly) but haven't seen anything too enlightening.

The answer to my question is obviously going to be ring the clubs and ask them, but What are the PH experiences?

Many thanks.

The thing to do is join a club that includes both circuits within their championship. For instance both the Nottingham Sports Car Club http://www.gosprinting.co.uk/index.html
and the HSA http://www.hillclimbandsprint.co.uk/ run rounds at each circuit. HSA members often get to guest at other championships' events as well.

For instance the HSA championship this year includes rounds at Curborough in April, June & October and Loton in May & September. I didn't check Loton, but you could have guested at Curborough pretty much every month this year using your HSA membership (you don't score any points for these though).

In terms of championships, you will be entered into the championship of whichever club you join so you won't score points in the local championships.

There will be loads of other clubs racing at those circuits as well, the two above are just the ones that I'm familiar with.

I hope the above makes sense!

So basically if I join the HSA, I will be able to compete as a guest, but not score any championship points. Otherwise, I could join the Curborough club and guest at Loton on the Curborough days at Loton and vice-versa?

Am I correct there?

Hi

If you're just intending to run at those two venue's then by far the easiest way is to just join both clubs - Hagley & Shenstone.

The Hagley events in particular tend to be over subscribed and hence hard to get in - club membership will help. But it's also an excellent club and it's not expensive.

For Shenstone club members get to go to the club days, plus cheap members only track hire etc etc - well worth it.

In addition though if you join those two you'll then get invites to other clubs events and there are some very good venue's in our neck of the woods, 3 Sisters at Ashton In makerfield is good fun, Anglesey is a bit further but epic, Aintree's properly quick to name just a few.

And a bit more, now I've re-read your post - sorry tis late..

Re Championships

Both clubs run their own, single venue, club members, championships.

If however you want to run in the regional championships, covering both venue's your choices are:-

ANWCC Hillclimb & Sprint championships - www.anwcc.org.
The Chester & Liverpool Speed Series - www.speedchampionship.com
Midland Speed series - www.midlandspeed.org.uk

The HSA is a National Championship, so yes their series does cover both venue's but only once or twice at each, the regional series are obviously more North West / Midlands oriented hence more rounds local to you.

Cheers for that. I reckon I will join the Hagley club, do a couple at Loton Park and maybe one at Curborough.

It will be my first season, so only a few event whilst I work out what the actual budget is.

Cheers for your help guys.

on some events, members of the organising clubs also get priority...join the club, meet people, get invovled...
