Hi Im 6 foot about 12 stone, and have been looking at mountain bikes, seems like the one in the shop is always my size!!!!!, what do you think I should go for size wise, my budget stretches to Carrera Kracken or similar price...Ta

18"-20"...i'm 5-11" and ride an 18", but i'm in 'racer' position (seat above bar height), kind of depends on what you feel comfortable with aswell, wouldn't go any bigger than a 20", you will have to raise the seat anyway to get your legs in the proper position (not sure if hellfrauds will tell about this). Rule of thumb to get your legs sorted...place heel on pedal at its lowest position, raise seat until your legs is straight (but not stretched), place ball of foot on pedal and you should have slight bend in your leg. Job done!

Inseam - 14inches is a start.

But frame geometry and top tube length are as important, you can tweak sadle position/steerer etc but best to get it as right as you can first.

Bike size is a very personal thing. I'm 6'1 and 80kg which I think is similar to you, 33" inside leg.

My three MTBs are two 17.5" hardtails and an 18" full-susser, but through trial-and-error I've found out I prefer a smaller frame than a lot of other riders. Think I just prefer something more chuckable that suits my style. I've previously owned as big as a 19" hardtail though, but that felt a bit long for me.

My 'cross bike is a 58cm though.
