Funny this, I supose I'm so used to photos now, that I dont' see the "art" in these images very much - though in the flesh they may be pretty awsome. If there was some sort of interpretation or abstractness, then I think I would like these more.

They are very good, but far from unique. There have been people capable of producing near photo quality paintings for ages, I guess the demmand for it tailed off as photography took over though - even with a camera the trend has been to produce more atmospheric results.

Very impressive Im sure - but why.

If you have a photo you like you can get the nice people at Boots or wherever to get it printed onto a canvas for you for a few quid.

Regardless of whether they are copied from photos, there's a great amount of skill in those paintings.

Read an article about a guy who produces photo quality pics by pencil. Far more impressive than painting IMO.

I like them and can see how they must need great skill. To the person who said it's just copying a photo, every painting captures a point in time, from the Haywain to Guernica. Instead of trying to remember every detail, this artist is using many photographs as her memory in order to carry out what must be a painstaking and lengthy work. I don't see it as any different to someone sitting in front of a lake and painting it as they see it.

The key to whether it's just a copy is how much the photograph is an aid and how much imagination she puts into the composition. As we do not see the original photographs of, say, the old man swimming it is wrong to assume she has copied.

If you look at the detail pictures on her website you can see the brush strokes - very impressive.
