Camera company with an equine feel, What a load of old pony!
Discussion
Honestly, what a shower.
Just returned from Thailand, and whilst out there my other half dropped our camera. Its only a W-130, so not mega bucks, but its only been used a couple of times since purchase in Dec. The drop itself was hardly a large one, and indeed the daily camera we use (a samsung) has taken a lot worse, and still comes up trumps.
Phoned aforementioned equine related company to enquire about whether it would be covered by warranty, and informed no, it doesnt cover accidental damage, merely mechanical failure. I guess that although frustrating, I can kind of understand this. I then ask whether there are approved Equine related repair centres. Apparently there is only one in the whole of the UK, and it is in Wales. I have to send my camera there, and the statutory minimum fee for repair is approx £130.
This minimum fee is irrespective of whether it is a loose wire, in which case it's bloody easy money for them, and they won't charge less than this, plus they are unable to give me a time frame of when I may expect it to be done by.....
Maybe it's just me, but I would have expected more from such a large company, and certainly better after sales service. Does anyone have any ideas of places I can send it to to be looked at, or shall I just pick a local indy type effort, as the camera itself is of course now useless.....
