Derren Brown: How to Control the NationFriday 18 September
9:00pm - 10:00pm
Channel 4
2/4
Last week's "Event", when Derren Brown apparently predicted the outcome of the National Lottery - and then on Friday promised to tell us how he'd done it - was a let-down for many. So airy-fairy was the showman's "explanation", it did little to quash the speculation that he employed something vulgar, like camera trickery, rather than the clever psychological techniques we've come to expect. In this week's interactive special, fans will be hoping for a return to form. Derren is aiming to literally stick TV audiences to their seats by reaching into their living rooms with the power of suggestion. If it works, he'll deserve a standing ovation...

The time has nearly come for him to stick me to my seat. There is wine in the kitchen so he will have a struggle with me smile

Not sure how we will be stuck to our seats. Sounds interesting though.

I'm not watching it, I'm bored of Derren Brown.

But let me hazard a guess, warped psuedo-science, pop psychology, a few prediction 'tricks' then stick people to sofas.

Mazing.

Erm so how come no-one's mentioned the totally bloody obvious subliminal cut that appeared before and after the film?

Funilly enough, I wasn't stuck. But as discussed on the previous thread, I don't think the point is that you'll get stuck. It's still about making people believe that the impossible is possible (like making people last week believe that either rigging or predicting the lotto was possible.) Sticking people to a chair with a video is impossible, but the point is that he has convinced some people that it's possible, even if it didn't work for them.

Case in point is the number of people on here who bothered to try it!! (Myself included) I knew it wouldn't work, but I tried to give it a shot anyway. But if I was 100% sure, then I wouldn't have bothered, would I? Same goes for some people on here no doubt! By even trying the experiement you were fooled to think it MIGHT be possible!! And that was the whole point!
