EPC light R32...
Discussion
Hi guys, I own a mk4 R32, i've had it about 3 months now and love it!
Unfortunately my EPC and Engine management lights are now on constantly and since this has happened, the car doesn't run as smoothly as before, especially between 2-4k.
Just wondering if anybody here has had this experience, and if so, what the outcome actually was? Poor airflow perhaps? Broken air flow sensor or a small hole in the inlet manifold maybe? I could obviously take it to VW for a diagnostic test but they just rip you off so i thought id ask here first! If I have to do this I will but just seeing if anybody on here could give me some feedback first as to what it could be?
Any advice would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Your need to know what fault code is in there first. Then go from there. There are literally hundreds of things that can make those lights come on.
Best bet is to get the main dealer to check it first, Make sure you say, I would just like you to check the fault memory and tell me the likely cause. If you ask then to investigate for why the lights on they may well have do delve deeper to give you an absolute answer, and this would be more diagnostic time and a bigger bill.
Just to check the fault memory should be, 0.3 hours labour say £30 + vat.
If you dont want to pay dealer money, anyone with an OBDII code reader can check the fault memory, a local back street garage for example.
Has it got a misfire or is it just a bit flat?? A misfire caused by a dodgy coil pack is as common as much on those later VR6 engines. IF its just a bit off, could be lambda or maybe airmas, but as I said, get the fault memory checked first.
