Does anyone want a house made of Lego?

Shame as I helped build some of it and it's ace.. anyone got a spare £50k, the Lego is prob worth more than that!

Can't believe Legoland "can't afford it" they probably make that in about 20mins from the grossly overpriced food stalls at Legoland.

It's a shame Legoland couldn't come up with the cash, it doesn't seem that much to pay really.

Im sure Legoland would make more than £50k in ticket receipts from visitors that would come to see the house, and who would not have come were it not there.

funny thing is lego say that they cannot produce enough lego. i have a toy shop and they cannot supply me with as much as i want.am i right in thinking legoland does not actually belong to lego?

Things must have gone downhill for them, I went to Legoland, Billund in 1990 and they have a staggering amount of lego. I guess it's not as popular as it once was so they've cut down production?

That's ridiculous, I don't for a minute believe that Legoland can't afford £50k!

It costs £36 for an adult to get in!!! That's 1388 adults to earn £50k...

Of course it's so extortionate that most people who visit use airmiles/nectar points etc

Legoland amusement parks are no longer owned by Lego. Rather they are owned in a joint partnership between the founding family of Lego and Merlin.

Lego as a company are right now turning out their best results in long time, and is widely believed to have completed the turnaround into a fully profitable toy company. Don't know about the production capacity though, could be lower than in previous years.
I see no reason why the Lego company could not buy the Lego house .. hell, if they wanted they could transport it to the hq in Billund Denmark

lego is as popular as ever, its just that they cannot cope with demand. i can sell as much as they can supply me with. even with woolworths going out of business , the capacity has just been swallowed up

You're not wrong. I was at an auction a couple of weeks ago & a load of Indiana Jones Lego stuff came through. Went for silly money i.e not far off RRP.

Was told last night that my friends GF was the production manager for some tv show about a long haired poofter who was building a house out of lego and I should watch out for it on tv.... bit bemused until this morning as to what the hell he was on about, as my friend was very drunk.

According to the linked daily mail article, Lego donated the bricks on the basis they can't be given away or sold so as not to dilute sales. Says they can be given to charity though.

Something doesn't seem quite right though, as Lego go on to say that it's a shame their model makers weren't consulted. There also seem to be fundemental issues which prevent them from moving it. I'm amazed that they only realised it wasn't going to work on Thursday.
