E39 Bootlid won't open

Hi

Just wondered if anyone has solved the following problem on a 530d:

Bootlid has stopped opening from the central locking and interior release button and also won't open with the key in the boot lock. Have tried the lock in various positions too and it still won't work.

There is no sound at all of the locking mechanism working when the key fob is pressed. I've also checked the front fuse compartment fuses for central locking (and scanned the others too) and no signs of any problems.

Anyone able to offer any advice please?

PS I've tried the search engine here but for some reason I can only search back to jan 2009 so no simple way of checking for previous threads
