sunglasses? oakley style. what to look for and where?

hi, i am soon going on holiday and need to get some shades. i like the looks of oakley style/type sunglasses with thin frames.

is it worth going for the polarised lenses which seem a fair bit more expensive or are the normal lenses fine? and where is a good cheap place to buy them?

are there any other decent brands that make a similar style of shades? i once had a nice pair of frameless nike ones but the lenses just cracked too easily due to little support for them.

any help would be much appreciated. thanks guys.

I've just bought a pair of Oakley titanium Nanowires, burnt copper frame with VR28 black iridium HD polarised lenses. It took a while to persuade myself as at £240 a pair they're extremely expensive but they are fantastic to look through, especially when compared with my old Ray Bans - driving is an absolute pleasure!

they look very nice indeed, i was hoping to spend about half that though as the ones in the sunglass hut near me were £119 or £156 polarised, they looked very similar too and they told me they could knock off the vat as i said i was going on holiday.

I think the wires start around that sort of price - mine being titanium are noticably lightler than standard wires though which accounts for most of the price.
As mentioned if you are going to Vegas then get them there as they start around USD300 in the states.

they look very nice but they look a bit too much like aviators to me, personally i prefer the slimmer looks of the curves design of those, they look a bit more oakley.

I bought them from the TAG Heuer boutique in Westfield @ £278. I'm sure I could have got them cheaper on the net, but I wanted to make sure I got a perfect pair.

I got mine from the states and they cost me 100 quid less than if i got them here.

Couldn't spend more than £50 on a pair of sunglasses...would be scared of damaging them. I'm aware that different people have different ideas about spending money on one thing, you might say "holey crap you spent £200 on some mountain bike wheels!!

I also remember losing countless pairs of M-Frames in Epping Forest when I put them down stopping for a rest and forgot to put them on again when setting off!

Haha, that was a few years back (the wheels) some dog walker was lucky then!

Definately go for polarised. Yes they cost more but trust me they are worth it and you won't go back.

Check out some of the vonzipper range if your in the states, not sure if you can get them here, but they are a little different from the oakley norm but still that sort of style iykwim.

Thats what I thought, but a good pair will last and be way more robust than a cheap £50 pair. I've not looked back since I got my 1st Raybans.
