1st off big thanks to the marshalls at the pod today as my car was rather loose on the gas and were on hand to look over it at the top end and at lunch let me walk on the hallowed start line to feel the grip for myself..cool!
Early doors it hooked great on the motor as in the photo but on a 140 shot it struggled and had to abort all 3 gas runs due to small gonads and experienced an un-nerving floating sensation along with a not so straight pass which its never done.
This is a link to the launch.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9IGPG9NHag any advice, shock adjustment etc; I have cut 1.48 60fts but was on 1.70's today on gas. Oh its a stick shift. Thanks for any input.

Sean you really shouldn't be let loose unless me or Pete are there to look after you ;-)

Couple of questions:

What rear pressures were you running?

The problems were with a 140 shot, is that your normal shot?

Was anyone else of similar motor also having launch problems today?

Looks like a lot of smoke out back.
Are you running 140 shot straight off the line ?
Can you not use progressive system.

Nice photo mate

LOL..I put 2 passes on the motor with the added fuel on my WOT tables from my mopar nitrous run, so it did kick a lot of ste out the hole.So needed leaning of although it picked up nearly 3mph on the motor 11.52@117.92 Hooked and ran low 1.50 60ft so was good if black!!!
Got another slow mo where flames are coming out the exhaust from unburnt fuel.
Gas run (guarding against detonation) nitrous table took timing out added fuel and stuggled to hook with a best of 1.70 thru to a 1.90 from previous 1.48s.
Only main change has been removing 90 degree bends from side exit exhaust and dumping them at the axle...could this fuel rich exhaust be hazing the tires somehow?
Launch is one thing..scarey when I bang 2nd/3rd and it 'floats'
Pressures were 10psi as normal, will go back up to 12psi for stability but it was rock solid on the motor!!
Progressive controller would be ideal but not sure how it would work with my nirous wired thru my Anderson PMS system. Car is running its normal shot with a bigger fuel jet in the wet shot. Too much fuel out the exhaust?
Couple of cars with slicks were ok, from watching they didn't seem to hit the tires so hard..really seems an issue on shifts.
Thanks guys.

Yep I reckon there's a good chance you were giving the slicks a nice good spray of all the crap coming out of the exhausts..

Just for interest's sake, what rear end ratio are you using and what is the up/down ratio of your front shockers?

3.55's (cant afford to change it) the slicks are too tall @ 28" as I was running a 26" drag radial, but got a deal on the slicks.
Fronts are 90/10 with 4 cylinder springs. This winter will be fitting a tubular k member/arms with coilovers and Strange 10 way Adj.struts with 150lb 12" springs. I run on a tight budget so mods are limited.

Hmmmm. Your set up is very close to what i think you should be doing so, very quckly, I've run out of suggestions. The roll rotation looks good so it seems that the weight transfers to the rear as it should - yet the slicks are not hooking up. They do look soft as there is evidence of a bit of crinkling as the rubber enters the contact patch. The pre-load looks good as the front lifts quite evenly. Are you sure about the 90-10 shocks, they do seem to squat down on landing a bit readily - although the tyre rotation has pretty much finished by then anyway.

Sorry, other than a 'not-very-good-tyres' siutation, I can't really help. Good luck with it, there's certainly some ET to be had there let alone RT consistency.

Thanks for looking at that. Yep they are 90/10s...dont know if they are fooked though LOL. Just need more forward motion and less up n down at the launch. Seems a fine line with a stick getting it to launch right, but makes you understand theres more to just putting your foot down in a straight line as most non drag racers assume.
Thanks all views much appreciated..I gotta lot to learn.
