I want to give my car a good clean underneath and would like to remove 20yrs of road crud, oil and in places waxoyl.

I have not got acess to a steam cleaner but have a small power washer. So far I have given it a good scrub using car shampoo removing most of the dirt and is solid with no signs of rust. I now would like to tackle the more stubborn stuff like oil residue, waxoyl and tar.

What methods and products would you recommend to get the underside clean and once it's clean what would you use to protect everything? Also which products should I avoid like the plague as I don't want my rubber hoses and wiring looms to dissolve?

Hope you guys can help

something like this attached to your pressure washer will help keep it clean:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Karcher-High-Pressure-Unde...

its best to shop around as I have seen it cheaper

There are a variety of options....obviously a professional steam clean is your best option before reapplying waxoyl etc.

Bilt Hamber have a top product Surfex HD.

Meguiars Super Degreaser is also wortha look but is not as strong.

Is you car up on a ramp?

It's on axle stands so enough room to crawl under comfortably.

I have done a bit of research and the Surfex HD gets great reviews from a lot of people and can be diluted with water to suit. It will be my first choice to try.

If it will it remove waxoyl that will be a bonus too.
