e36 m50 manifold swap (323i)
Discussion
Just wondering where's the best place to source one, how much should i be looking to pay and is the swap worthwhile? Iv'e been told there will be a noticeable loss in torque around 2000-3000rpm, but after 4k the engine will feel more alive. Gains of 10-15bhp really achievable?

I've fitted one to my E39 528i, haven't experienced any loss in torque, fuel consumption remains the and same power is up! Most noticeable above 3.5k where it will now rev rapidly around to the readline.
Best option is to contact Alpina527 ( http://www.bmwland.co.uk/talker/profile.php?mode=v... ) he produces the modified manifold and big-bore throttle bodies (BBTB), you're looking at around £400 for both, depends if you have ASC or not (cheaper without). His manifolds are custom machined with nice shiny CNC'd bits on them to make it a direct swap rather than a bodge fit with extra piping that some other kits use.
I diy'd the fit, fairly painful 4 hours spent in inclement weather but I'm more that happy with the results. I'm just about to LPG mine too so hopefully the extra power available now will compensate a little for the loss from LPG.
Cheers,
Rob
