I've put down some blackberry wine, just racked it for the first time after 2 weeks, gave it a quick try and it tastes very sweet. Does this mean it hasn't fermented? Did I forget the yeast!

Hydrometer reading should give you an idea as to if it has fermented or not.

Bought a hydrometer, it reads between .99 and 1, which seems to suggest no sugar but it tastes very sweet, I'm a bit confused.

How many lbs of sugar, and how many lbs of fruit did you use?

I think it was 2lb sugar to 4lb fruit, I followed the instructions in a book so I'm fairly sure that was correct.
