Not sure which forum would hit the most potential victims so this is a repeat of the post made on the Sports forum, if I'm allowed to duplicate . .

"Anyone else on here a victim to the woeful scheduling / handling of the Mayweather fight?

I stayed up to watch UFC 103 which clashed and set Sky+ to record the fight (with a generous + or - 10 minute overrun) only for the programme to end part way through the 4th round.

My brother bit the bullet and re-subscribed to the Sky Sports package which he can ill afford, mainly for this fight. He too recorded it and got as far as the 6th round!

Someone must have planned and sanctioned this scheduling and surely knew the fought was still on when they closed the broadcast and moved to the next programme, or do they do this all electronically and get to bed early?! Appalling lack of ability and professionalism in my opinion.

I called Sky which was futile and was told the only way to express my disgust is to e-mail or fill in a feedback form (which I will).

So, I was wondering how many others fell into the same boat and lost out. If there are, I hope everyone else complains so they'll be less likely to cock up next time.

A shambolic company that had already screwed up my HD upgrade for 3 weeks this July/August, forcing me to spend approx. 5 hours on phone calls to tell them their promises to fix it hadn't been kept/to be given the next assurance - which then inevitably failed - before finally allowing me the content I'd started paying for (and only then because a lady in the upgrades dept. spotted an issue that half a dozen so called technical experts hadn't.)

I love and need the content but wish they didn't have this monopoly . . ."

My HD recording is fine and the call centre hasn't informed us of any issues with recordings.

I also checked Digital Spy and there is nothing I can find on there about it. If it was a widespread issue then it would be on there.

Sorry I can't give any help.

Thanks anyway for the reply. Funny that it happened to two of us living 20 miles apart but didn't affect your recording - it makes me wonder just what on earth went wrong and if it is machine/software dependent?

It's not a Sky issue as such ie a scheduling issue or they would have both stopped at the same time. When you got to the boxes today were they at the welcome channel 995?

Just goes to show that you shouldn't listen to Sheila Grant.

No, I don't think so - I'm fairly sure it cam back on with ESPN HD which was the last channel I'd watched. With setting it to record I hadn't even turned it to Standby (though realise this is probably a bit neurotic as it should still record if I do?)
