Did you catch the shunt at the start of the Whitsun race?
What happened there? He didn't hit anything and got back into the race (I think he stopped after a few laps?) and half the race was run under the safety car.

this belongs to a mate of mine, i drove it there, then had to 'lend' it back to him as his modern alfa blew its clutch up on the way down on saturday - he then had to drive the mini sprint back to yorkshire during sunday to be able to catch a flight at 6am monday morning.it runs a sweet 1071cc engine and is a joy to drive

Ah thanks.
Very unusual to see one that's not de-seamed and without rectangular headlights. Do you know how the conversion came about?
it is deseamed (but it does have the bumper seams and bumpers), the rectangular lights only really appeared in the later 1960s on the lower chopped cars (this one is 1 3/4 from the pillers, 1 3/4 from the body) that had a 2" body chop. they needed the square lights as it made the beam pattern legal (with the round lights the bulbs sat to high for the rules as they where) & it was a fancy conversion on normal height carsVery unusual to see one that's not de-seamed and without rectangular headlights. Do you know how the conversion came about?
this is actually a fresh built car, the body was converted last year by neville tricket, the guy who did them originally in the 1960's - have a look at his site for a full story of the development.
the cars owner wanted it to look just like a period early 1960s sprint, so bumpers and no wheel spats etc, rather than the more race derived later cars

glad you like it

From the start line a car (red, so might have been a Ferrari, but I'm not sure) went from the left hand side over to the right and onto the grass, taking out 2 more on the way across.
He didn't hit anything and got back into the race (I think he stopped after a few laps?) and half the race was run under the safety car.
It was the #18 Lola T70 Spider. It suddenly turned right at the start collecting J. Folch's Ford GT40 and the Lola T70 of Paul Knapfield. The #18 car had some damage to the side but was able to continue the race.He didn't hit anything and got back into the race (I think he stopped after a few laps?) and half the race was run under the safety car.
