Just been quoted 988 by Hexagon.

Nine Elms 847 and Stevenage 807.

What with some new tyres and some touch up body work I'm in for a real treat...

I got it done for £6xx at Stratstone Maidenhead and if I'd trekked to Oxford it would have been £630 or so. I think there is a dealer in the Cotswolds that's even cheaper. See if any of your local places will pricematch.

It's a total con considering what they do.

Just under 700 at Sunningdale if you haggle.

You definitely shouldn't be paying 800 / 900.

Yes but it's worth paying extra upcountry just so you don't have to try to navigate Oceans so called "Customer Parking" area

I got quoted £800 for an Insp II at Dick Lovetts in Wiltshire and have heard Costwolds will do it for £700 odd so does seem expensive for an Insp I

I cannot believe anybody gets their car serviced at Hexagon. Do you have more money to waste the Gordon Brown?

Do the ream you because it's an M Power model?

I saw an advert in one of the Sunday papers and I'm sure it said an Inspection 1 was under £200.

Can't believe anyone buys cars from them either.

They're currently trying to flog an '02' plate E39 M5, with a hideous bile yellow interior for £25,000.

They actually weren't too bad for servicing on the Z4. Certainly no more than £50 off what I'd have got elsewhere, and that was worth it for the convenience (at the time).

They also had the pleasure of doing all the warranty work, and they didn't argue with any of it.

But I certainly wouldn't buy a car from them.

Why is the Insp1/2 so overpriced at dealers anyway? Is the book time to do the tappet check or general inspection a lot more than the actual time it takes?

Am I living on a different planet to everyone else?

I have spent 2.5k on a 330i inspection 2 years ago, then a further 1k 2 monhths later on a related fault and another 700 2 months after that. I have had about 10k worth of breaking down in 4months in my next vehicle (bmw m5) luckily covered by the warranty apart form the brake disks (1k+).
After a run like this, anything essential and under 1k makes me sigh in relief...

edit: just re-read and I guess the prices mentioned are just for the inspection and assumes there are no faults with the car... in that case. anything over 650 is too much

You pay to keep the dealer open hense the reason its £100+ ph

The clearance takes about 3 hours to do if done correctly and assumming all need adjusting-normally its one or two at most. then theres the cost of the profile gaskets too.

ins 2 has the extra bits like the gear oil and diff oil replacement
