I've recently inherited a computer thats been in the hands of a few owners before me so has probably seen more porn than Hugh Hefner. It was a bit clogged up so I downloaded AdAware6 (Which picks up a lot more than version 5!) and spybot s&d. I've run these and got rid of the items found. But notice when running Spybot that at the bottom left beside where it says running bot-check there are still references to porn and virus type stuff going past eg running bot-check (5000/11930: dialer_XXX)Does this affect my computer or is it any concern?

If you have original install CD's I'd suggest trashing the machine and starting again.

Otherwise you could buy a new Operating System (XP SP1 E-buyer £90), but you haven't told us the spec of the machine and what OS you currently have.

No originals i'm afraid. Its Win98, 64MB ram(!), 600MHz processor. Going to get more RAM hopefully, other than that I don't want to spend too much money because it's only for minor stuff like the web and word.

That just displays what it's searching for, if you've actually got something it'll show up in the main window at the end of the scan.

See if there's anything in the control panel in add/remove programs and also in the registry.
