pre cat dash

I'm in need of a replacement dash and it looks like i either send mine off to get it veneered which is not ideal as I need to use the car on a regular basis or I get a stainless replacement from Leven at £150.....just wondered if I have any other options? And if anyone has one they are selling as will need to wait 4-6 weeks for a leven one

They're getting a bit rare I'm afraid. I've run out but am working on replacement items, though nothing's going to be finished before next spring. It's simple enough to cut a new dash to get finished/veneered but it's the 'rudimentary' method of attaching the dials that's causing grief. If you're happy to have the dials sitting proud (like 500s) rather than flush it's just a matter of cutting the holes smaller i.e. the diameter of the gauge bodies (52mm and 80mm diameter), but to retain the unique precat look the holes are rather larger and then we hit the problem of how to fix them in place.
I think I'm just going to bodge mine for the time being and revisit again over winter when I won't miss the car so much.

I have one of LGs sitting in the garage as my dash also needs doing.
I can get you measurements/make a template if its any use.

Same here, don't want to lose dash whilst sorting, also my dash is a bit bent.

Am working on getting some cut from Grover's drawings but won't be for a while though as it will need a bit of trial and error + time (which is at a premium at the moment). Will pop up a post if I end up with something safe to replicate.

Does anyone know about anodised Aluminium? I would like to know if adhesives will work and if so which do and don't work.

I'm currently experimenting with an ally backing for a veneered front, in an attempt to avoid the rusting edges with mild steel.

Went to the C3C TVRCC meet tonight - we have another pre-catter in need of a dash.
Can we have a show of hands of who wants one please?

I want one with a little change LG - the square vent holes replaced with round ones the same as the LE has. I have one of the round alloy eyeball vents and still looking for another, but it can't hurt to have the dash ready can it.

Is there any difference between the pre-cat dash and the early 500 dash? Mine has the same inset black rim gauges ...

I don't know TBH. If it has the Stewart-Warner gauges then I'd expect so. Is it possible to post a photo of it? Preferably one of the rear side too.

Am still experimenting, luckily had a load of blanks cut.

Does anyone have any spare pre-cat guages (with the black rims) one large and one small will do and they don't have to be working.

Rather than keep taking mine out to test fit etc etc I could do with some to use as patterns.
