Hi,

I'm currently considering replacing our old 28" CRT with something a bit newer!

The TV source will be Virgin V+ HD. Will also be used with a PS3 for games and blu ray. We watch quite a bit of sport so want something that handles that side of things well.

I'm thinking 1080p would be worth having for the PS3?

Models I'm considering at the moment are

Toshiba Regza 37XV635DB (£529 with 3 year warranty including £100 cashback)
Panasonic TX-L37S10B (£650ish with warranty)

Have seen good reviews of the Panasonic but not seen much about the Toshiba. Does anyone know how they compare? Is the Panasonic worth the extra?

Or should I be considering something else? Budget around £600.

Thanks.

Spend the extra on the 42G10 Panasonic Plasma, or 42DV1 JVC LCD.
Any reason why you've thought only of LCD and 37"?

Originally thought 37" would be the best size for the room. Thought 1080p for the PS3 which means LCD only?

I did have a look at some 42" screens during lunch break, and I think it would be a possibility but I need measure the space I've got available. These things always look smaller in the shop!

The Panasonic 42G10 is going to be a bit too expensive I think. How about the Panasonic 42S10 Plasma? Will it be significantly better than the LCD's?

I've measured the space we've got available and I think it's going to have to be a 37" screen.

Currently leaning towards the Toshiba Regza 37XV635DB. Does anyone have know anything about this model?

Viewing distance will dictate how much of a 1080p's extra resolution you're going to be able to appreciate.
If the distance isn't 5', then I would suggest the Panasonic 37X10 is your best option all round, given the 42"ers are too big for where you've planned on citing the TV, and the G10 version a bit too much of a stretch at £780 ish.
