Travelodge (and the like) room prices......

I very rarely (if ever) need to use travelodge and the others when I go travelling....but the last time I checked room prices they were around £70-£80+ !!

Am I correct in saying that only a few years ago the likes of travelodge's main selling point was £30 per room per night?

When did this more than 200% price hike take place?

Laterooms is your friend or whats the website that gives you a suprise room? You don't know where it is but its going to be cheap sort of a lucky dip.

And yes they have all hiked their prices.

They're a bit like budget airlines - the earlier you book, the cheaper the room/flight.

You can still get Travelodge rooms for as little as £29.99 if you book ahead and the hotel is outside London.

Since the 'corporate refit', I always try and book Premier Inn if I'm away on business; they're worth the extra tenner or so, IMO.

when i was working away I found that holiday inn was usually cheapest by some margin.

+2 They're not luxury but they're always clean, they have nice comfy beds and you're pretty much guaranteed what you are going to get beforehand (the only bad thing is the life-size cardboard cut-outs of that tt Lenny Henry in reception). I wouldn't put a dog in a Travelodge.

Not true - like the Premier Inn, they have a mix of different pubs attached or their own restaurant depending which one you stay at. I stand by my previous comment though - they're still st!

Ibis can be good value and they're a bit better than a Travelodge (but only a bit)

I'm paying between £9 and £19 most nights (you have to book quite a way in advance for this) and for my 2 nights when I stay away at work it'll do me

Never found it anything but clean, its got a TV and a reasonable shower plus the staff have always been helpful

No way would I pay Premier £89 for the extra bit of comfort they give

Rather save my money for cars/fun/nights away with the Mrs in somewhere far nicer when i dont have to be up at 6am!

A Premier Inn was the last one I used a couple of weeks ago. £62!
