Hi everyone

I'm after some sound advice, I would like to either buy or build a kit car, but I have one thing that concerns me the most, i'm 6'4" tall....... So the big question is can anyone recommend a good kit (if there is one) that I could fit into???

Preferences, I like the westfield/tiger/dax range and i would love one with a bike engine.

Thanks Guys

This topic has be done to death, but remains unanswered. You will get several replies saying "I've got an xxxxxxxx and I'm 6' xx" and I fit in it just fine".

Unfortunately it won't tell you what you need to know, and that is will you fit it in it, comfortably.

I work on kit cars full time, and have had the chance to try most of them, and am also quite tall, and I can tell you that I can't get in most of them.

There are adaptations that can be made to some of them, though. Smaller pedals, set as far to the front as possible, smaller steering wheel, taking the seat out and forming a new seat by padding the rear bulkhead and fixing head restraints to the rollover bar etc.

To find a car that is already suitable or can be adapted there is only one way you are going to find out and that is by trying each one that interests you personally.

There is one 7-style kit that you WILL fit, and that's the Luego Viento - it's like a seven that's been on steroids. It's big enough to take a V-8 - in fact, I'd recommend one.

I personally know of one owner who's easily 6' 3" tall, and his son is 6' 5", and both are VERY generously built. Both get in the car with the seat a bit forward, and tons of elbow room.

Mine's the silver/yellow thing, and the black one's the Viento. A fair bit bigger, but not noticeable until a 'normal' seven-alike parks next door.

A Quantum Xtreme swallows me comfortably at 6'4 and 18 stone.

Highly recomended - and they have a propper boot too! I felt that the Viento didn't 'hug' me quite enough.

I would find a kit car meeting local to you and go and have a look/sit in a variety of cars. That's what I did!

Might be worth mentioning that some of the mid-engined kits have a bit more scope for tweaking the pedal box area to give extra room for long legs. I'm 6'2" and fit in my (standard) Mojo like a glove, but there's scope to have 2-3" extra at the pedal box if needed (and you'll probably find the story is similar for the Sylva Riot & Spectre too).
