My MX-5 Sport

I had a Mk2.5 for 6 months from Dec 08 to May of this year. Sold it to enjoy a brief fling with a Clio 182, but now back in an MX-5.

Picked this up yesterday, absolutely loving it so far!
It's a '56 2.0 Sport with Bose stereo & Climate control.

I love the colour - grey is my favourite for cars, so it was a natural choice!

I've got some plans for this, lets hope I can keep it for long enough to carry them out!

Same as me for mine. Always plan lots of little touches, but never carry them out, because I sell up too quick. Same as you, I might keep mine for long enough this time though!

I'd like to lower it, get the alignment done (again), and then potentially fit the Mazda Air Dam bodykit to it.

The NC Sport has bigger alloys, Bilstein dampers, front strut brace, six gears, front fogs, heated leather seats, and BOSE (although BOSE might be an upgrade). It's also got an LSD.

Right then. 3,000 miles in a little under 3 months is very little use, compared to most of my previous cars. I've moved closer to work and so don't need the car day-to-day, so it sits snugly in the garage until I use it for my longer journeys at weekends. I've made some subtle changes - clear indicator lenses and a stubby aerial, both fairly cheap and easy to do!

As such, I treated it to some loving at Wheel in Motion, Chesham, last Saturday, where Tony and the guys lowered the suspension with new Bilstein springs, and adjusted the geometry to suit.

The car has been a completely different beast since, and actually feels really great to drive again . A few gratuitous photographs:

Looks great, what's the power output on these? Around 160bhp?

Why have you got the roof up?

I agree about the difference lowering it makes, but more importantly having the geo sorted.

Hard top is on for the "harsher" months. Though I am considering selling it, as the car stays in the garage 5/6 days a week anyway! It does make it a slightly nicer place to be over the very cold few weeks Dec-Jan.

Looks good. I've been out in a 1.6 Eunos all day and had the roof down for 150 miles - until it got dark at least
Even with the 116bhp old MX5 I still didn't miss the power of the 182 that often. Being closer to the ground seems to be the reason

Ah Ben, you got rid of the Clio in the end then?

Did 190 miles or so in a borrowed 1.6 Eunos today though and it's pretty much convinced me to do the swap. Just working out finances, but hope to be in a Mazda after Christmas

My post was tongue in cheek, though as a soft top owner I do like being able to drop the roof all year round

It looks lovely...

But I got in an mk2.5 a few months ago to have a test drive and.. Jesus! How do people fit in them? Never realised I would be that squished (I decided not to test it in the end)
