Cheap Second Hand Bike in London

Where about is best to get a cheap second hand bike in London? I left my proper full sus bike back up north, as it's just going to get nicked commuting, so need one for cycling to and from uni. Was thinking no suspension, and although I'd love to get a really nice road bike I can't justify it!

Heard best to avoid Brick Lane as they'll all just be stolen?!

Insure youre full sus, stick some slicks on it and ride it. If it does get nicked then the insurance excess will be less than the cheap runaround that you buy and the result is a shiny new bike.

[this could be a never ending cycle(!) of stolen bikes and increasing insurance premiums....]

I rode my full sus marin around London for 2 years without any issues.

Ask around the LBS in the area you're moving too. E-Bay. Gumtree.

As ever with 'cheap' bikes there's always the chance it'll be nicked.

Alternatively, try posting in the Classifieds on Singletrack World or London Fixed Gear (not all are fixies).
