not vMax ... but how about 30-130 ?
Discussion
Love to try it. I can;t offer locations but I will be up for it if you do find one.
Recently acquired an ST220, which I love. Had the chance to do a little amateur acceleration testing, and I would estimate the 30-130 interval would take about 26 seconds (might be a touch optimistic seeing as speedos usually over-read). It's a good interval for showing off this car's performance because missing out 0-30, you pretty much miss out the part where the FWD slip holds things back, and as the speed rises you get the benefit of smaller transmission losses (than RWD or 4WD) and can pretty much stay in the 'top end' with close gear ratios.
I hope someone comes with an e46 330 as I think the ST (although thought of as an underdog) will actually have the edge.

I could be up for this if it could be organised.
I suppose a lot more locations are in theory opened up with the much lesser speeds involved, but I'm not sure which would cater for this type of thing.
Anything with a rolling start is always appealing from a mechanical sympathy perspective and a sprint to 130 sufficient to open the car up for a few gears!
Would be very interested in locations, dates and costs if it could be formally organised with some reliable timing gear.

I have an e46 330 and I would tend to doubt that. I tried both before I bought. I admit I didn't get either of them above 80 on test drives so can't comment on the upper half of the 30-130. But the first half I'd have put the 330 ahead. I realise its extra torque could give an illusion of greater urge, and I admit the ST220 has a really lively top end, so i retain an open mind...Recently acquired an ST220, which I love. Anyway would be interesting. I might come.

Probably worth having a look at the Mitsubishi Lancer Register (MLR) forums, they often hold these events. Obviously the cars are mostly Evo's but I think any car can join in.
Indeed. How are these times measured? Cruising at exactly 30mph then flooring it, or accelerating through the gears from less than 30mph?
