I would go for an original Heuer Monaco. Uber cool IMHO.

Whilst not a "real" Heuer, I bought this off Heuerboy in Feb and am well chuffed with it.

Runs a wee bit quick, but means I'm not usually late for stuff.
Nic is a top bloke, and you can pay in installments if you're struggling to pile all the pennies up at once.

The price on these seems to have jumped recently, theres one for sale in my local jewelers for £3,800!

Seems a lot for the watch to me...

That'll be the weak pound Tom.
You'd get a nice one from Heuerboy for about half that...

Interesting. What edition is this?

I amazed anyone buys the new Tags at those prices....glad they do though otherwise there wouldn't be any second hand bargain for use 'pre-owned' fans. wink

I've had this a while now, bought in a round about way via ebay and an in person visit to York and a jeweler to check it over for the all in price of about £1600

It's the 1998 Tag re-issue of the Heuer Monaco. Suspect Nic might have PVD'd it himself, as the site says he offers "custom service".
I did see another black version on chrono24, but the seller chose to ignore me once the pound took a bounce against the Euro. His loss, as I ended up paying very slightly more to Heuerboy but for what seemed to me to be much better service.

As long as you look after the watch, then there's not much chance of losing a massive wedge on a watch you buy from him, as someone else has already taken the hit.

Must stop looking lustfully at the dateless sub he has just now.

Browse the site, and if he's not got exactly what you're after drop him an e-mail and see what he can do. IMO the wee Heuer symbol just looks that bit better than the Tag one. Call me a badge snob if you will, seeing it really is a Tag.

I wanted one for years and my then girlfriend bought me one after I proposed (which was nice!).

I have the Steve McQueen edition, and of all my watches it's the one that people notice and comment on. I'll be honest though, I wear it for me not what people think about it. It's one of those watches, an absolute classic which weighs a good amount but has a definite feel good factor to it when you wear it.

I don't wear it every day as I'm always wary of bashing it as the case sticks out a fair bit, and it doesn't really fit under my work shirts either.

I've had no issues with it, I set all my quartz watches to the same time and left them running for two weeks (I wore the Monaco and then did the same the following weeks with my other autos) and it kept perfect time.

I'm off to lust at the heuerboy site again....

Great minds think alike, mine bought me one for our wedding, bad news was that I had to reciprocate with a rolex!

I also have a 73633 Monaco, but mine is the blue version. I've had it for over 5 years and love it. I do wear it quite a bit and it has a few scratches on the crystal, but nothing that can't be sorted out at service time.

I now want any one or two vintage Heuers, maybe an Autavia, Carrera, or Monza? I'm also liking the idea of a vintage 1133B two dial Monaco, or the latest Tag heuer 40th anniversary reissue of it. Long term the 1133B would be the better investment, but I do like the idea of a new one with a sapphire crystal instead of the plexiglas one.

Watches hey, they can be a more expensive hobby than cars.

They're a hard habbit to crack, once you get one you need another...

I've got the white faced vintage and wear it everyday. Had no problems at all and love it to bits.

I added mine as a specified item on my house insurance, added a reasonable whack to the policy but worth it for the piece of mind. In saying that, changed to m&s and they have an unlimited cover option which is worth it if you have a few watches etc.
