Hi,

Please could someone help me with a little problem...My wifes Peugeot 106 1.5 diesel runs rough when it is first started. If it is revved for approximately 5 seconds the rough running clears and the car is fine for the remaining journey. During the rough running the car produces smoke from the exhaust which is white to light grey in colour.

I'm stumped by this one confused. Is there anything I can check to narrow down the cause of this problem?

Thanks,

Ralph.

First guess would be air leak in the fuel lines.

Try double heating the plugs. If it improves you need some new ones, thats all.

As above you will have one or maybe two heater plugs not working, when you are starting the engine its running on the cylinders that work and after a rev the others are coming into play.

Easy to do on that engine too. £25 set of plugs and halve an hour to fit, drop drop the 8mm nuts!!

Like the man says it's only starting on 2 or 3 cylinders and the smoke is the unburned diesel coming straight out of the exhaust.
