Not been on here for a while, mind you the HSV has not been out on the road for a good 6 months & I forgot to keep charging the battery which has left me locked out!

My problem is apart from a flat battery, the driver’s door handle is broken (cold weather in winter) and obviously this is the only key entry door.

The boot has a sub woofer in the way that cannot be moved out without taking out a complicated ICE installation which is under the rear parcel shelf area, so boot entry is probably out unless someone knows a way of getting the rear seat to fold down from inside easily - the boot will manually open with the key.

My question is, do you think I could get a charge to the battery by connecting a positive lead from a charger or other battery to the positive connection of the starter, as the car is so low I have not been able to look if the starter motor is where I think it is – under the engine?

Any ideas?

Thanking you in advance

NB: Have contemplated breaking glass but that’s out as the car is not insured!

There is no room for my fat chubby hands to get to the bonnet catch, might be able id I got it jacked up Chris LOL

As for a locksmith, why, nothing wrong with the lock, the latch is the broken part, not the barrel. Have tried to turn with some force, maybe apply some more force but wanted to check other options first.

Thanks for your responses though....

"and obviously this is the only key entry door"

Went outside to have a look at mine as I'd never noticed this before . Can't see clearly where it ends up but the positive lead runs down the o/s inner wing heading for the underside of engine presumably heading for the starter motor solenoid. Another option if somebody there has a really small pair of hands is feeding the positive lead up to the battery post itself. There's a gap just behind the o/s end of the radiator that goes straight up to the postive terminal but it is very narrow.

Yes, you can connect it to the starter stud. Try not to crap yourself when it sparks as you connect it. Ask me how I know.... LOL

Is there not a Large Gauge wire running directly to the battery to power your amps?

And if there is could you not disconnect it from the ICE stuff, and hook up a battery using the ICE cables, just so you can get into the car and release the bonnet?

Cheers
MC.

There is a truck battery in the boot that gets a trickle feed from the car when running, that is charged OK but never thought of sending power the other way, have to investigate further, many thanks...

I didn't really have to change my pants, but it's a big old spark if you're not expecting it!

If you put the +ve side first.... then the -ve.... surely it should not spark.... i was always told to do this even when doing a normal batt-to-batt jump start
