Power steering feeling loose...

I'm starting to feel loose my griffith 500 model '96 power steering, once it was sharp and very tight, now it has about half inch of the steering wheel moving without the front wheel move at all.

Anything ready for a change in the sistem?

Most likely cause is the top universal joint on the steering column in the wheel arch. I need to change the top one in mine again after it was replaced in March this year so in my experience they don't last very long at all despite regular lubrication.

Well, I never have replaced anything in the steering since I got the car new in...1996!!

I guess it lasted long enough...it just started to get ''loose'' a couple of months ago.

Well I've just had my PAS rack rebuilt as well as that had developed a bit of play too. Once I've replaced the upper UJ I should have play free steering again.

When you do replace it, fit a steering gaiter around it, this'll make it last much longer

What parts should I replace to have a fully rebuilt power steering sistem...mine is exactly 13 years old.
