Doomsday the film
Discussion
has anyone seen this?? Its billed as 28 days later meets dog soldiers. I havent laughed as much in years, the only good thing going for it, is it has rhona mitra and malcolm mcdowell in it, otherwise its naff beyond belief!!! Mind you, got a nice bentley conti gt in it, and has some weird cars for the *cough Pyshco's cough*
Oh, and i did search for this, but couldnt find any reference to it, so if its a repost then.........D'oh!!

Been discussed a couple of times. Vaguely from memory, I think it was agreed that the Rover SD1 (cop car) would not keep up with the Bentley Continental GT even in a already rolling/moving situation. That the Bentley's various "juices" would not be up to speed after 30 years of languishing in a cellar, including tyre pressures, degraded; oil, fuel, brake fluid and coolant.
The whole car chase scene is clearly a hommage to Mad Max and similar of the genre and I believe many other scenes owe a nod to many 80's films such as Escape from New York, Omega Man, The Warriors and similar.
Its not a particularly bad film, after all we get to see Sean Pertwee bbq'd and that in itself it quite a revelation on screen. A reasonable, although not totally unexpected twist at the end. A good countenance to 28 days/weeks later and until Miller directs and produces Mad Max 4 Fury Road then I guess a pretty up to date apocalyptic car chase sequence.

Agreed, it isnt a bad film as such, but the bit that made me laugh the most, is the tag line on the cover of the dvd
DOOMSDAY!
Can you survive this?
Oh yes, especially with some popcorn and a beer! Did like the rover sd1 keeping up with the conti though, and to be fair it did have some entertaining fight scenes!
