Got my Monaro

Just got my monaro. 2004 5.7 VXR which has had a Performance Pack from monkfish installed.
Although the sound is superb, it can be quite boomy at certain revs.
I have brand a new Janspeed silencer that came with the car when it had it`s exhaust upgrade, which the previous owner kindly supplied me with.
If I were to fit these will the boominess go or will it just make the overall exhaust quieter.
Also if I go down this route is it very diffficult to fit?
Apart from that the car is superb.

Can't comment on the silencer I'm afraid, as I'm not familiar with it. Hopefully someone can shed some light.

Hi Racoon,

I only found the exhaust boomy when I took the centre silncers out of the system. Are your centre silncers present?

Where are you based? I too have an 04 VXR

I`m based in Devon, so sadly quite a way down.
I believe the silencer to be the centre one, it`s a double with a cross joiner.

Talking to monkfish today.
Seems the silencer might help a bit, but in the meantime I seem to have invented more ways to spend money.
Is the road response pack and quick rack the step forward it sounds?
This car is sounding like an expensive project.
Gotta be worth it though.

04 VXR should have a quicker rack as standard as its the HSV variant of the car shouldnt it?

This is the model of Monaro that I really wanted back in 2004 but was unable to afford the extra £7k (and didn't fully appreciate the HSV heritage). Of course since then I've spent in excess of that on upgrades
