Quick Paypal question

Just a quicky, and I'll simplify it.

I have been emailed an invoice for $100. I have $50 in my Paypal account, and want to pay the other $50 with the bank account it's linked in with.

Is this possible ?

I try to pay and it wants to take the $100 straight from my bank. This isn't a problem as such, it's just the reason I have the invoice is because I wanted to burn the dead money in Paypal that's doing nothing.

Odd, it usually recognises spare money in your paypal account, I bought something for £35 the other day and had £22 in paypal which I had forgotten about so it took the rest out of my bank account, bargain.

May be worth further investigation on that one, doesn't sound right

Pay it from your bank and transfer the 50 from your PP account to your bank.

Definatly right, it should use any monies in the paypal account then make up any shortfall with whatever account it is linked to.

Could there have been a change to the way Paypal works then recently?

The other day I used Paypal to pay for a watch I bought off eBay and expected it to use my PP balance and take the remainder from my bank account.

It took the full amount from my bank leaving me with the original PP balance intact. Didn't really matter and didn't think anything of it until I saw this thread...

Yes (and it is a watch purchase, Nolar) It seems it wont entertain the smaller amount lying in Paypal.

I'll give it another go in the morning and see how it goes, moving the money to my bank will take 3-4 days.

Bit annoying to say the least.

No chance, it's a sterile MM PVD custom stealth job and I'll get flamed on here looking at the Fake thread raging at the moment. It squarely lands in 'Homage' territory, and I'm frankly embarrassed I've even ordered it.

I might sneak it into the wrist check thread when they've made it and wait for the fireworks.

Or, could be something to do with the agreement paypal has with card service companies (VISA/Mastercard etc.), whereby a payment for a single item has to be made in full with the card, rather than part card, part paypal hyperspace funds balance, for reasons of chargebacks etc.

Imagine if you paid for said watchy watchy, which turned out to be fake 60 days after you made the purchase. You can't make a paypal claim, but you can still start a chargeback with your credit card company. That would get very confusing if you only paid for 'part' of the goods with your card, rather than the whole amount.

Can't be sure this is why, but more than likely something to do with it.

Card is fine, but the claim procedure aspect makes a lot of sense.

Thanks for that, paid from the bank and transferred the Paypal monies to the bank.
