AFAIK, early and late versions only refers to the turning circle. The early versions have a big turning circle whereas the late versions have a "tight" turning circle. That difference necessitated different front-end geometry settings. Time-wise, that change should have occurred sometime in 2003 or early 2004.

The way to tell if it's an early or late 3R is to look at the rack height. The rack height on the early 3R’s is lower than the later ones. The front toe settings are therefore different to suit.
Early car – rack height 103mm
Front – 2mm toe out Rear – 2-3mm toe in
Later car – rack height 107mm
Front – 1mm toe out Rear – 2-3mm toe in
