Is it possible to remove the nearside rocker cover without having to remove the plenum chamber first? Struggling a bit at the moment with it !! ( 390 wedge )

Got a feeling i could squeeze it out IF i could get the dip stick tube
out. So next question, does the dip stick tube unscrew from the engine block or just pull out ? Really dont want to touch the plenum with all the throttle linkage gubbins !!

You can leave the throttle linkage alone, just pull a few of the pipes if need be & lift it away.

This is my old Wedge. You can see the plenum complete with throttle linkage on the top left of the pic.

The dipstick does pull out but it's a heck of a pull and the same issue trying to get it back in .. and as has been said - once the 6 bolts are undone - you can just move it a few inches to allow the rocker to be removed.

Whilst youre at it remove the silly hotspot under the throttle body. Its plumbed into the cooling system, and does nothing on a TVR. Its there so that your V8 landy runs OK in arctic temperatures - not relevant on a Tiv.

Helps keep the charge air a bit cooler and simplifies the plumbing to boot if you remove it.

If this part is removed you can take the left rocker cover off with out taking the top of the plenum off and its only 4 bolts that holds down the cover and mabe a few others screws holding the HT leads down, they say you can get an extra 5hp from not running the inlet heater, you might as well take it off what you have the plenum off as when the heater is taken there are a few bolt holes that will need pluging.
Good luck

Yep, lose the throttle body heater and while you're at it, chop off that unused length of steelwork that hangs off the throttle assembly. With those two out of the way the left-hand rocker cover will come out easily enough.

Thanks for posting pic, that shows me what i needed to know.
Have removed the 6 bolts, popped the throttle rod, double checked everything disconnected but can i shift that plenum top..... i think not, even with liberal use of screwdriver, hammer and bad language !!! Anyone got Geoff Capes' number!!

I found the easiest way to remove it isd to use the wooden end of a hammer under the input end of the plenum .. and just lever against the rocker cover.

I'm sadly not built like a brick outhouse but there is nearly always a lever point ..

Try Maplin if you have one near you.

Or Screwfix part No 18440 £4.40

Or Agriemach part No PM098300 £2.54

Or CPC p/n D00083 £7.71 - but has a LED at the business end.

Or CPC p/n D00273 £1.31

Plenty of choice out there.

But BEWARE I once stirred all the crud in the bottom of the sump (old Dolly Sprint) which clogged up the oil filter, low pressure when cold, normall when hot.
